Friday - Event Set Up Day
There it is, quite clearly in our diaries. Friday May 1st, Colyton Garden and Food Festival set up day. Except that it isn’t. The CV-19 pandemic has touched everybody's life in some way. There are so many events, often raising massive amounts of money for extremely worthwhile causes, which have been struck off the calendar. A quick social media post or email, informing supporters that ‘due to unprecedented times our event is cancelled’. We glance at the details and then we bin the message. Months of planning, promoting and hard work by teams of unpaid volunteers, not to mention businesses who support these events, stopped by one click of the ‘send’ button.
But, we have decided to carry on in the virtual realm! We are inviting all of you who would have been with us tomorrow to send one image of what you are doing instead. Please support our Virtual Colyton Garden and Food Festival on Saturday May 2nd.
Email your photo to carys@colytongardenfoodfestival.uk
Many thanks from the 2020 Virtual Team!

The images you send in may be shared on our social media feeds and some may be used in an exhibition at Colyton Grammar School in 2021. By sending in your images you give us permission to use them in these ways. We reserve the right not to include any images that we feel are inappropriate or are not in the spirit of the Festival.
In extraordinary times, extraordinary things happen!
The organisers of the 2020 Festival would like to invite you to The Virtual Colyton Garden and Food Festival.
Our plan is to put together a pictorial record of what we all did on 2 May 2020. We are asking you to send us one picture. It doesn’t need to be a fancy, staged image. It could be a snap of your daily exercise, a view of your work bench, something you baked, etc. If you are a business, feel free to add your contact details and we will tag you on our Facebook and/ or Instagram pages. We want to support as many people as we can. If you would prefer to send over a photo and remain anonymous, that’s great too. The world is your oyster.
We will be inviting all stallholders who booked a pitch at the 2020 Festival, volunteers from our school community and Festival visitors who would have been at school on 2 May 2020 to join in. We would really appreciate your help in making this project a success. Not only will it form some sort of historical record of our daily lives under lock-down, but will also serve to remind us that there is light at the end of the tunnel and normality will return to everyday life.
We would also love to use these images to bring together an exhibition at the 2021 event, documenting the Virtual Festival that did go ahead during the Covid-19 pandemic!
Your image from 2 May can be emailed to colytonfestival@gmail.com or carys@colytongardenfoodfestival.uk
A huge thank you from the 2020 Virtual Team!

Colyton Garden and Food Festival – CANCELLATION
In light of the evolving coronavirus crisis, we have taken the sad yet necessary decision to cancel this year’s Colyton Garden and Food Festival, which was due to take place on Saturday 2nd May 2020.
Anyone who has paid for a stall at this year’s Festival will receive a full refund, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support – without you our Festival would not be the success it has become.
Given the busy-ness of the school calendar it is likely that we will skip this year and return with the Festival next year in 2021– we will be in touch as soon as we have a date.
If you have any questions please contact us here.
A Great Time for Everyone
A truly magical day with plants, food, drink, books and loads of stalls indoors selling all sorts of things. Great day with the family, thank you. (AV, 2017)
